He got up from the knockdown and pressured Golovkin at every turn in that fight. He dished out more punishment to Golovkin than any other fighter Golovkin faced in his professional boxing career, including Canelo Alvarez.

Golovkin vs. Derevyanchenko went to the judges’ scorecards. All 3 judges scored the bout for Golovkin as he escaped with a close 12th round split-decision victory. There were a lot of boxing fans and experts who felt that Derevyanchenko’s pressure in the fight was enough to give him the upset victory.

Nevertheless, it was Golovkin who escaped. Lately, there have been talks going around the boxing world regarding Derevyanchenko getting a shot at either WBC middleweight champion Jermall ‘Hit Man’ Charlo or ‘The Face of Boxing’ WBA (Regular) super-middleweight, WBA (Super) and RING middleweight champion Canelo Alvarez.

Derevyanchenko has the heart and determination to give Charlo and Canelo a run for their money. If Derevyanchenko is offered both opportunities, which fight should he take? Check out Potshot Boxing’s (PSB) latest boxing poll and vote!
