Russian junior welterweight contender Maxim Dadashev dies at 28.

On July 23, 2019, Russian junior welterweight Maxim Dadashev dies days after suffering the first loss of his professional boxing career. Dadashev sustained severe brain trauma while fighting Puerto Rican junior welterweight contender Subriel Matias.

Dadashev and Matias were fighting in an IBF junior welterweight title eliminator on July 19, 2019, at the MGM National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Both fighters were undefeated heading into the fight.

The fight was stopped in the 11th round due to the brain injuries Dadashev suffered in the ring. He later died on July 23, 2019, from his brain injuries. Dadashev was 28 years old. This is a very sad day in the boxing world today.
