Roy Jones, Jr. to defend his WBU Cruiserweight Crown.

On Saturday, July 26, 2014, Roy Jones, Jr., one of the best fighters in boxing history is set to step back into the ring and remind the boxing world of why we fell in love with his boxing style in the first place.

Roy Jones, Jr. - Potshot Boxing

Jones will be traveling overseas again, this time to Riga, Latvia, but let’s remember, the cruiserweight title that Jones hold is the WBU cruiserweight title which is the German version of the cruiserweight title.

Jones will be making his 1st defense of the WBU (German) cruiserweight title against Englishmen Courtney Fry. Fry is a fighter that does not have a lot of knock out power so Roy will not have to worry about getting hit with anything big in this fight. I expect for Roy to have some fun in the ring this Saturday night against a guy like Fry who lacks punching power and championship level competition.

Anytime one of the boxing greats step back into the ring it should be news. Now I am sure that the big boxing news right now is the fight coming up on the same night that Roy Jones, Jr. will grace the ring again, which is the middleweight title fight between Gennady “GGG” Golovkin and Daniel “Real Deal” Geale, but you have to give the boxing greats their due when they step back into the squared circle given all of the great performances they have given to Boxing.

I wish Roy Jones Jr. well on his upcoming WBU (German) cruiserweight title fight against Courtney Fry. I am sure that he is going to give the crowd at Kipsala Exhibition Centre in Riga, Latvia a great boxing performance as only “RJ” can.
