Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez will return to the ring!

The year 2017 was not pleasant to the once #1 Pound 4 Pound Fighter in Boxing Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai derailed Gonzalez’s Pound 4 Pound status by beating him on the east coast and then finishing him on the west coast. Gonzalez fought back like a true champion in the first fight with Sor Rungvsai back on March 18, 2017.

Sor Rungvisai took advantage of Gonzalez’s pressure by ripping him with hard counterpunches. Gonzalez stormed back in that fight by wearing down Sor Rungvisai with unforgiving power punches to the delight of the Madison Square Garden boxing crowd. When that fight went to the judges’ scorecards, it was Srisaket Sor Rungvisai who got the majority decision victory, thus, handing Gonzalez the first loss of his professional boxing career. Sor Rungvisai also walked away with Gonzalez’s WBC junior bantamweight title. Most boxing critics felt that Gonzalez did enough to pull off the comeback victory, but nevertheless, Sor Rungvisai prevailed in the first fight.

The rematch of Gonzalez vs. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai (SuperFly) took place September 9, 2017, on the west coast at the StubHub Center in Carson California. In the rematch, Gonzalez’s pressure got him into trouble again. This time Sor Rungvisai did not waste time taking advantage of Gonzalez’s pressure as he ripped Gonzalez’s body and finished him with an unforgiving right hook in the 4th round that knocked Gonzalez out cold.

Srisaket Sor Rungvisai was awarded the 4th round KO victory, thus increasing his status as one of the best fighters in the sport. Yes, Sor Rungvisai’ s first win against Gonzalez was not a fluke. Fast forward to this upcoming September 15, 2018. Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez will start his comeback trail on the biggest stage of the year. Gonzalez will face off against Moises ‘Moy’ Fuentes in a 10-round bout on the Canelo vs. GGG 2 undercard.
