Legendary Boxer and Trainer Roger Mayweather dies at age 58.

Roger ‘Black Mamba’ Mayweather, a former 2-time world champion and trainer to nephew Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, Jr. died on March 17, 2020, due to deteriorating health and complications of diabetes. Mayweather was 58 years old.

Roger Mayweather was a great fighter and great boxing trainer. He won world titles in 3 different weight divisions. Mayweather’s professional boxing record consisted of 59 wins, 13 losses, with 35 wins coming by way of knockout.

Mayweather fought a lot of great fighters in his boxing career. Fighters like Julio Cesar Chavez, Pernell ‘Sweet Pea’ Whitaker, Vinny ‘The Pazmanian Devil’ Pazienza, Rafael Pineda, and Kostya ‘Thunder from Down Under’ Tszyu are some of the great fighters Mayweather battled against.

After finishing up his professional boxing career, Mayweather went on to become the head trainer for one of the best fighters to ever lace up a pair of gloves. That fighter is Mayweather’s nephew, Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather, Jr.

Mayweather was the head trainer for Floyd Mayweather, Jr. from 2000 to 2012. During that time, Roger Mayweather played a huge part in Floyd Mayweather, Jr.’s success. Mayweather helped his nephew get past a lot of great champions.

Champions such as The Late Great Diego ‘Chico’ Corrales, DeMarcus ‘Chop Chop’ Corley, The Late Great Arturo ‘Thunder’ Gatti, Zab ‘Super’ Judah, ‘The Golden Boy’ Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky ‘The Hitman’ Hatton, Juan Manuel Marquez, ‘Sugar’ Shane Mosley, and Miguel ‘Junito’ Cotto are all great champions that Floyd Mayweather, Jr. defeated under the expert tutelage of Uncle Roger.

Known for his famous line, “You don’t know S**T about boxing,” Roger Mayweather will truly be missed by the boxing world.

    Absolutely Bro! From 2000 to 2012 was Floyd ‘Money’ Mayweather’s biggest peak and Uncle Roger will be remembered for guiding Floyd through that remarkable time. Uncle Roger Mayweather will truly be missed.
