Will Chavez Jr. get back to his winning ways tonight?

Julio Cesar Chavez, Jr. will enter the Stub Hub Center on Saturday night looking to erase the memory of his loss to Sergio Martinez last year, and the drug issues that he faced after the Martinez fight which led to his suspension from boxing.
Brian Vera will enter the ring on Saturday night with a lot of confidence as he has won his last four fights which includes a 7th round stoppage of Lithuanian Donatas Bondorovas in his last fight.
This fight already has controversy as the fight was scheduled for 12 rounds and now the fight is 10 rounds. Also, the fight tonight was supposed to have been at 168 pounds which is super middleweight; instead, the fighters have agreed to fight at a catch weight of 173 pounds.
Both fighters did make the catch weight on yesterday so thank goodness there will be a fight tonight.
So on to the prediction.
Vera likes the stalk his opponents just like Chavez Jr. likes to stalk and chase down his opponents, so this is going to make for a blockbuster fight.

I expect both fighters to press in this fight due to there are only 10 rounds to try and get the job done so it should be excitement in this fight from start to finish. Chavez, Jr. is a heavy hitter and when these two fighters start to bang on one another, I expect for Chavez, Jr. to win most of those brutal exchanges tonight.
I feel that Vera has a huge chance in this fight, however, if he can take a page out of the Sergio Martinez’s playbook and allow Chavez, Jr. to be the aggressor and outbox Chavez, Jr. in hopes of piling up early rounds, and then try and survive the late rounds in hopes of getting a decision from the judges.
The Sergio Martinez strategy should bold well for Vera or any fighter that face off against Chavez, Jr., but in the end, I just do not think that Vera will be discipline enough to follow a boxing game plan like Martinez instituted against Chavez, Jr. as Vera loves to bang which will put him in harm’s way of the devastating power of Chavez, Jr.
Prediction: Chavez, Jr. by 7th round knockout
