Women’s boxing #1 Pound 4 Pound fighter Cecilia ‘First Lady’ Braekhus was heading into the downtown streets of Tulsa, Oklahoma to set the boxing record for most consecutive title defenses by a fighter. Well her opponent Jessica ‘CasKilla’ McCaskill had other plans.

Braekhus vs. McCaskill was an entertaining 10-round championship affair. McCaskill was aggressive from start to finish in this fight. Braekhus fell into McCaskill’s boxing game by fighting her on the inside which is not what the boxing world expected Braekhus to do.
Braekhus usually out-classes her opponents by keeping a good distance and counterpunching her opponents throughout a fight. In the late rounds, Braekhus did get back to moving and controlling the distance with her jab, but according to the judges, it was not enough.
This history-making fight went the entire 10 rounds. Judge Karen Holderfield scored the bout 95-95. Judge Gerald Ritter scored the bout 94-97, and Judge David Sutherland scored the bout 93-97 all for the winner and new undisputed Women’s welterweight champion of the world Jessica ‘CasKilla’ McCaskill.
With the win, McCaskill handed Braekhus the first loss of her professional boxing career, thus, halting Braekhus’ consecutive title defense streak at 25. Braekhus still share the most consecutive title defenses boxing record with the great ‘Brown Bomber’ Joe Louis.
After the fight, Braekhus was humble in defeat, just as she was humble as a champion. She gave props to McCaskill for fighting a good fight and did not make any excuses.
It is not clear as to whether or not this will be Braekhus’ last fight. If it is, however, Braekhus will go down as truly one of the best Women’s fighters and boxing champions to ever live.
