Jean Pascal at Cruiserweight?

Jean Pascal has spent the last half of his professional boxing career at light-heavyweight. As a light-heavyweight, Pascal enjoyed some good success as he captured the WBC light-heavyweight title in 2009. In 2010, Pascal would later go on to face off against ‘Bad’ Chad Dawson in a WBC/IBF light-heavyweight unification showdown and walked away with the WBC and IBF light-heavyweight titles.

After unifying the WBC and IBF light-heavyweight titles, Pascal’s boxing career at light-heavyweight started to slide. Later in 2010, Pascal would put his WBC and IBF light-heavyweight titles on the line against boxing legend Bernard ‘The Alien’ Hopkins.  That fight would end in a draw, but many boxing critics felt that Hopkins should have gotten the nod in that fight. With that said, a rematch was created because of the controversy in the first fight between Pascal and Hopkins. The rematch took place on May 21, 2011.

In that fight, Hopkins was able to bait Pascal into fighting at his pace. When the dust settled, Hopkins walked away with Pascal’s WBC and IBF light-heavyweight titles. After the Hopkins rematch, Pascal was able to resurrect his boxing career with some decent wins at light-heavyweight. He would later, however, run into the ‘Krusher’ Sergey Kovalev.  Pascal fought Kovalev twice. Once in 2015 when he got stopped in round 8 by Kovalev; and once in 2016 when Pascal retired on his stool in round 7.

Now Jean Pascal has officially moved on from the light-heavyweight division to cruiserweight.  Pascal’s cruiserweight run has gotten off to a good start as he stopped undefeated Ahmed Elbiali in 6 rounds back on December 8, 2017. Pascal will face off against Steve ‘The Boss’ Bossi in his second fight at cruiserweight on June 29, 2018.  This will only be Bossi’s second professional boxing match, so Pascal should be heavily favored to stop Bossi who will most likely be like a deer in headlights heading in against Pascal.
