Claressa Shields gave the boxing world an outstanding performance in front of Savannah Marshall’s hometown crown at the O2 Arena in London, England. Shields stormed out of her corner in round one and was aggressive from start to finish.

Claressa used effective aggression and counterpunching to take over the fight early on. Marshall came on in the middle rounds, but Shields did a great job closing the distance on Marshall and smothering her punches.
Shields also did a great job digging into Marshall’s body to take away the power that Marshall possesses. As the fight moved into the later rounds, Marshall had moments where she backed Shields up against the ropes and banged her with some good body and power shots.
These two fighters exchanged serious leather on each other until the final bell. This great fight went to the judges’ scorecards.
Judge Steve Gray scored the bout 96-94. Judges Luigi Boscarelli and Frank Lombardi scored the bout 97-93 for the winner and New Undisputed Women’s middleweight champion, Claressa ‘T-Rex’ Shields.
Conclusion
Shields started more aggressively in this fight against Marshall than in her other championship fights. It looked as though she was determined to go for the knockout against Marshall because it was clear that she could outbox her easily.
Marshall, however, proved to be a mightier foe for Shields and landed some good shots of her own on Shields. It was a good fight for Women’s Boxing. Shields becomes the first fighter, man or woman, to be undisputed in 3 different weight classes. That is truly impressive.
