Early Thoughts: Regis Prograis vs. Maurice Hooker!

On April 17, 2020, Regis ‘Rougarou’ Prograis and Maurice ‘Mighty Mo’ Hooker will square off in a 143 lb. catch-weight bout at the MGM Grand National Harbor in Oxon Hill, Maryland. Prograis and Hooker lost their junior welterweight titles in unification bouts back in 2019.

Prograis lost a close 12th round majority decision to Josh Taylor in their WBA and IBF junior welterweight unification title fight back on October 26, 2019. Hooker, on the other hand, got stopped by Jose Ramirez in the 6th round of their WBC and WBO junior welterweight unification title fight back on July 27, 2019.

Josh Taylor and Jose Ramirez both have mandatory challengers for their junior welterweight titles. This is what led Prograis and Hooker to turn their attention to each other. Heck, at a 143 lb. catch-weight even. These 2 fighters will try their hand in the stacked welterweight division.

For the winner, that fighter will get right back into the championship mix for both welterweight and junior welterweight titles. For the loser of this fight, that fighter will literally take a step back and will have to work his way back up to championship glory.

Prograis and Hooker love to bang so this fight should be explosive.
You have to appreciate these 2 world-class fighters choosing to fight each other after losing their junior welterweight titles. With that said, early thoughts Boxing World on Prograis vs. Hooker?
