The last time Deontay Wilder and Luis Ortiz was in the ring with other back on March 3, 2018, they produced one of the best fights of 2018. The boxing world witnessed Wilder being in serious trouble for the first time in his professional boxing career. Ortiz had Wilder hurt and almost out in the 7th round in their first fight. It looked as though we were witnessing the first Cuban heavyweight champion being crowned on that night.
Wilder, however, showed the heart of a champion by withstanding the 7th round punishment, shook the cobwebs off, and stopped Ortiz in the 10th round to retain his WBC heavyweight title. Wilder vs. Ortiz I was an epic fight! That fight took place at the Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York.
Now Wilder vs. Ortiz 2 is among us this Saturday night, November 23, 2019, out west at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas, Nevada. Ortiz did a great job in the first fight by boxing Wilder well, while mixing in combination punching that Wilder had to respect. The problem in the first fight was Ortiz did not have enough left in the tank to finish.
Wilder is just a ticking time-bomb in the ring. He moves well behind his jab in hopes of landing that fight-ending right hand shot. Expect for Wilder to do just that on November 23, 2019. Ortiz’s boxing and stamina vs. Wilder’s jab and power right hand. Boxing World do not be surprised if Ortiz wins this fight on points.
He definitely has the tools to outbox Wilder. His stamina, however, may play a huge role once again in the rematch. For that reason, you just cannot deny that Wilder will successfully defend his WBC heavyweight title.
