Here is Potshot Boxing’s (PSB) Prediction for the upcoming light heavyweight fight between “Bad” Chad Dawson and Tommy Karpency!
“Bad” Chad Dawson will make the 2nd appearance on his comeback trail since the knockout loss to Adonis Stevenson when he faces Tommy Karpency. This is a must win fight for Dawson if he wants to get back into the light-heavyweight championship mix.
Dawson is coming off of a 1st round knockout victory over George Blades. I categorize Blades as more of a confidence building opponent for Dawson if anything. Furthermore, Dawson got rid of the easy Blades so quickly that the boxing world really did not get a chance to see what kind of fighter Dawson has evolved to since the knockout loss to Adonis Stevenson.
The opponent Dawson will be stepping into the ring with this Saturday is no better than Blades in my opinion. Karpency has won his last 2 fights, but it was over 2 fighters who have basketball records for boxing records.
Dawson should win this fight easy with his jab and counterpunching. Karpency likes to come into the wheelhouse of his opponents so this will give Dawson plenty of opportunities to counter Karpency and get him out of there with an impressive knockout. I predict that this fight will not last long, but it does depend on which “Bad” Chad Dawson shows up at the Foxwoods Resort in Mashantucket, Connecticut on Saturday, October 4, 2014.
Sometimes Dawson has a tendency to wait on his opponents instead of attacking when he needs to. If the attacking Dawson shows up at the Foxwoods Resort, then it should be a less than 6 rounds affair. However, if the waiting Dawson shows up, we could be in for another upset of the year candidate so I am going to bet on the attacking Dawson.
Prediction: “Bad” Chad Dawson by Knockout
