Fight on, fight off, fight back on again. The Gennady Golovkin vs. Canelo Alvarez rematch is back on! The 2 camps reach a deal where Canelo will get the bigger split of the revenue, (57 ½ to 42 ½.) The rematch is set to take place September 15, 2018, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada. HBO PPV will air this spectacular extravaganza as GGG will once again put his WBA, WBO and IBO middleweight titles on the line.
Through all the turmoil and drama leading up to a rematch, Boxing World, we have a fight! The last time GGG and Canelo stepped into the ring, they produced a timeless fight that ended in a draw! You can argue that GGG won the first fight, and you can also argue that Canelo won. It was an epic first fight. Now the T-Mobile Arena will be the same scene for GGG vs. Canelo 2, but hopefully, there will be a clear winner on September 15.
Canelo has a huge chance to win the rematch if he can keep the action in the middle of the ring and counter the relentless GGG. If GGG, however, can cut off the ring on Canelo and bang him with punishing power shots against the ropes like he did in the first fight, then it will be a successful middleweight title defense for him. GGG has a lot to gain by winning the fight. If he wins, he will break the great Bernard ‘The Alien’ Hopkins’ middleweight title defense record.
Will he do it? It won’t be easy as Canelo will be heading into the T-Mobile Arena on September 15 to take back over the face of Boxing. You do not want to miss Gennady Golovkin vs. Canelo Alvarez 2, live September 15, 2018, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada on HBO PPV! Can’t wait!
