Canelo Alvarez put on a sensational performance last Saturday night when he broke down Miguel Cotto en route to capturing the WBC middleweight title. Cotto showed heart as he put his stamp on this fight as well, but Alvarez’s body punching proved to be more damaging than Cotto’s.
Now that Canelo has cemented his status as one of the best fighters in the sport, he may have to put that status to the test immediately as he has a big problem in front of him; and his name is Gennady ‘GGG’ Golovkin. Canelo captured the WBC middleweight title, but Golovkin is the mandatory challenger for Canelo’s WBC crown.
So here’s the question Boxing World. Will Canelo will step up to the challenge and defend his WBC middleweight title against ‘GGG’ in 2016? Check out Potshot Boxing’s (PSB) latest post and vote on whether or not you think the Cotto/Golovkin showdown will happen in 2016.
