Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez. Wow! Chocolatito clearly did not bring his aggressive offense to the StubHub Center. Srisaket Sor Rungvisai took the fight to Chocolatito and made it crystal clear that he was not leaving the StubHub Center without his WBC junior bantamweight title.
From the opening bell, Sor Rungvisai consistently targeted Chocolatito’s body. Chocolatito simply had no answer for the body punching that was dished out to him. Chocolatito had flashes of the old Chocolatito as he tried to use his offense as his defense.

It was Sor Rungvisai, however, who would shock the boxing world. The body punching would pay off in the 4th round as Sor Rungvisai started to land upstairs. Chocolatito continued to show flashes of his old self in the 4th, but his offense let him down as he got rocked by a solid straight right hand shot that sent him to the canvas.
Chocolatito would get up from the devastating right hand shot from Sor Rungvisai, but as round 4 continued, Chocolatito would get caught again. This time Sor Rungvisai caught Chocolatito with a vicious right hook that sent Chocolatito back down to the canvas for good.
The referee stopped the fight, and Srisaket Sor Rungvisai was awarded the 4th KO victory, thus, retaining his WBC junior bantamweight title.
Conclusion
Roman ‘Chocolatito’ Gonzalez seemed to become a shot fighter overnight. It was either that or just the case of one fighter having another fighter’s number. Will we ever see Chocolatito as one of the best pound 4 pound fighters in Boxing again?
As for Srisaket Sor Rungvisai, he has a lot of great options to choose from in the junior bantamweight division. No matter whether it’s Juan Francisco Estrada, Carlos Cuadras, or that Monster Naoya Inoue, Sor Rungvisai has put himself in a great boxing situation in the years to come.
