WBC junior welterweight champion Jermell ‘Iron Man’ Charlo has found a worthy opponent to defend his title against. That opponent is Austin ‘No Doubt’ Trout. This fight will take place on the undercard of Leo Santa Cruz vs. Abner Mares 2 on June 9, 2018. Trout will once again give a stiff test to one of the best fighters at 154 pounds.
Charlo’s task will not be easy for him, but if he can get past Trout on June 9, this will set up a possible showdown with New Unified WBA/IBF junior middleweight champion Jarrett ‘Swift’ Hurd. Hurd is coming off the biggest victory of his professional boxing career on April 7, 2018, when he defeated long-time WBA junior middleweight champion ‘The American Dream’ Erislandy Lara. Lara was considered the best junior middleweight by a lot of the boxing world.
With that said, Hurd is definitely being looked at by the boxing world as the best at junior middleweight. So, let’s say Charlo gets past trout. Who would win a potential WBC/WBA/IBF junior middleweight unification showdown? Jermell Charlo or Jarrett Hurd? Check out Potshot Boxing’s (PSB) latest boxing poll and vote.
