Yes, Boxing World, it is definitely true. The undefeated Phenom Gennady Golovkin has decided to take his talents down to the welterweight division to face undefeated Kell Brook on September 9, 2016. Golovkin will be putting his WBA, WBC, IBF, and IBO middleweight titles on the line in a “Canelo copy-cat style” fight.
Now, we witnessed Amir Khan going the slaughter house against Canelo Alvarez back in May of this year; and now his British counterpart Kell Brook is moving up as well to try and dethrone the freight train that is GGG. It is simply not going to work, Boxing World.
I respect Kell Brook as a fighter, and I give him credit for taking on such a great challenge, but he is not strong enough to deal with what GGG is going to bring to him. Brook will have his beloved fans in his corner on September 9 as the fight will be held at the O2 Arena in Greenwich, London, United Kingdom.
The only problem with being at home for Brook is that those fans cannot get into the ring with him on September 9. This fight may end up in another casket style knockout, but this time it will be Brook having to get the smelling sauce.
