Andre Ward is back to his dominating ways!

June 20, 2015, marked a successful boxing treat for Roc Nation Sports (RNS) on BET as the boxing world witnessed the #2 Pound for Pound Fighter in the sport get back to doing what he does best…make opponents quit.

Andre Ward gave his hometown crowd at the Oracle Arena in Oakland, California an epic performance as he dazzled Paul Smith with devastating straight right hands and multiple combinations to Smith’s head and body all night long.

Ward simply did not miss a beat as he showed no ring rust at all in my opinion.  The combination punching and occasional body work by Ward in this fight busted up Smith.  As the fight continued, the effects of Ward’s laser sharp offensive attack would shine through as Smith’s face became a bloody mask due to the unbelievable beating he was taking from Ward.

In round 9, it was hard to watch as Smith started to blood from his eyes, nose, and mouth. Ward would continue to pour on the punishment in round 9 as his brutal punching would continue to knock the blood and sweat off of Smith’s face.  Smith’s corner saw how Ward was dismantling their guy and threw in the towel in round 9 which led to an impressive statement making 9th round RTD victory for the #2 Pound for Pound Fighter in the sport Andre “S.O.G.” Ward.

Conclusion

Now I know that Paul Smith was a handpicked opponent for Andre Ward’s comeback, but I did not expect Ward to be this explosive in this fight after an 18 month layoff. He impressively landed straight right hands and combinations through the guard of Smith as Smith simply was overmatched by the 2nd best fighter in the world.

Andre Ward in a nutshell can beat any fighter from 160 to 175 lbs. easy in my opinion.  I cannot wait to see who Ward fight next.  I just hope that Ward don’t make it another 18 months before he fights again.

Check out the other action that took place on Satuday, June 20, 2015!

Errol Spence, Jr. is becoming one of my favorite fighters, while Adrien “The Problem” Broner showed the boxing world that his last fight against the statue John Molina, Jr. and dealing with pressure was a fluke as he fell to the pressure of Shawn “Showtime” Porter.  Also, David Lemieux put his stamp in the middleweight division as he cruises to a world title victory.

Errol “The Truth” Spence Jr. defeated Phil “The Italian Sensation” Lo Greco by 3rd round TKO victory.

Shawn “Showtime” Porter defeated Adrien “The Problem” Broner by 12th round unanimous decision victory.

David Lemieux defeated Hassan N’Dam by 12th round unanimous decision victory to capture the vacant IBF middleweight title.
